1. Update
I just got back from my first 24 hour shift at station
22. The killer station.
I'm not able to look strait anymore, think strait anymore
or do anything strait anymore. This job is insane. I have deep respect for the EMT/Paramedic
profession. You must be a total nutcase to do that kind of job for that
money.
I was in the middle of a robbery, a shooting, and some
severe lung patients tonight. I "rescued" total drug addicts and heart
breaking "cases" like the man who was deaf, blind and unable to speak.
I went to homes, you would never dream of existing. People
living worse than animals abandoned.
I heard things behind my back.... the paramedics think
that I'm "sweet" or something. I'm getting compliments. I'm feeling competent,
but fresh. I admire the paramedics.
We had to go from a dead sleep to racing down the streets
of LA with lights and sirens within 1 min of waking up.
I'm really exhausted now...
I got my first 800.- dollars today. The government takes
200.- of that though. Hey, I earned my first "hard worked for" and official
money here in the states. Besides the money I've earned on "the watcher"
in Chicago two years ago.
I can pay my rent now without having to ask anybody for
the money for it. It feels great.
got to go to sleep now.
